28 days of posts to deepen your understanding of fibromyalgia and give you direction

Welcome to my site if this is your first time. Or welcome back.

I am Richmond, and I have specialised in helping people overcome their pain for many years. My interest in pain started when I trained to be a nurse in the early 90’s and then picked up momentum as I continued collecting my badges.

By badges I mean my multidisciplinary background in nursing, rehabilitation, exercise physiology, physiotherapy, coaching, pain neuroscience, motivational interviewing to name a few.

From these disciplines, I drew the best of them together as Pain Coaching.

Pain Coaching for chronic pain is a truly person centred approach that sees you , your strengths and capabilities to improve your life in many ways. The focus is always on you, your needs and aspirations, and how to get there.

I have been in healthcare for over 30 years. I have seen a lot!

It has been an incredible time that I am most grateful for, and continue to be in awe of the people I serve. Despite suffering, they way they go about their lives shows such strength. Often they don’t recognise this to begin with, until I shine the light. Perhaps you can relate.

I commonly see people who have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia.

For many years fibromyalgia was controversial, which was a reflection of poor understanding by the healthcare progression and society. This wrong view emerged as a consequence of an obsession with only believing the observable and measurable. All else was psychological or imagined. What nonsense!

Yet it is more than nonsense. These views were and are harmful.

Sadly they have not been eradicated yet, but we strive to keep the change going by sharing the right messages about fibromyalgia and chronic pain.

Understanding fibromyalgia opens the door to possibilities.

So….

Fibromyalgia 28 days

Starting next week, I will be publishing daily posts for 28 days to deepen your understanding of fibromyalgia.

I will explore what we know and what you can do practically with this knowledge.

Why would you read the posts?

  • Because you want to know more…
  • You want to understand your experiences…
  • You want to know the kinds of things that can help you shape a positive future…
  • You want a better life…
  • You know what you want to do but don’t know how…

I hope you find it useful.
