A session yesterday highlighted the importance and effectiveness of Pain Coaching

by | Sep 24, 2024 | Uncategorized

To help and guide you understand and overcome your chronic pain.

That’s the sole purpose of Pain Coaching.

The entire focus on you, a unique person, meeting your needs and working towards your aspirations.

In a personal way.

Which means listening deeply and meeting you where you are, then designing and creating a way forward. Together.

There is no one-way. No single therapy or technique ‘for chronic pain’.

Instead a focus on your picture of success and the best step to take now.

This is why a Pain Coach must be multidisciplinary. One discipline or one therapy means coming through this sole lens — i.e. with a hammer you only see nails.

There are many skills and strategies that help people overcome their chronic pain.

The ones that work direct you towards your picture(s) of success rather than focus on the pain, or drag you back to the past.

There is a simple yet vital insight: focus on what you want rather than what you don’t.

Focus on the life you want and the step to take now, rather than focusing on treating pain.

What you focus on governs how you feel because that’s where your energy flows.

What do you want? What matters to you?

The answers to these questions guide our work together.

The skills and strategies are straightforward.

The key is the know-how.

How do you practice and use the skills in your world?

This is the beauty of Pain Coaching. Working with you on the know-how.

The detail, the nuance.

To get the best results.

There is a reason why peak performers have coaches.

But for chronic pain, this must be a Pain Coach who has a multidisciplinary background including pain neuroscience.

What happened yesterday to exemplify this?

The person had decided to go to return to the gym.

Great!

But how?

What was the motivation? The purpose? The design?

We established these in a caring conversion, bringing focus and clarity.

Then we looked at the detail of the training.

Each session is unique. It must be designed to meet the needs of that moment — principles over protocol.

Following a pre-set programme of exercises and reps assumes the person’s needs are the same each time. They are not.

Needs change. Especially when overcoming chronic pain.

Giving you the tools to check in, prime, decide on best training (what to do, numbers, how to tweak them etc), recharge.

There are a number of principles you follow to get the your best outcomes.

Teaching you to fish rather than just giving you fish.

Overcoming pain is learning and personal growth.

We walk together.

I share specific skills and strategies to move forward together with the know-how, guiding and encouraging.

Until you continue yourself with confidence.
